December 18, 2009, Newsletter Issue #184: I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly

Tip of the Week

This book is a great pick to captivate your preschooler, especially those with very limited attention spans. If you're not familiar with the story, it's basically about an old lady who swallows a fly and other larger and larger animals. She does die at the end, but children seem to just love the bizarre and outrageous way it all unfolds. There is also a guide at the back of the book that lists several topics for discussion. Boys and girls alike are fascinated with the idea of this silly old lady and what she swallows.
