Try before you buy
If your child wants to learn a musical instrument it may suit to borrow or hire one before you buy them their own. Often children will try a few instruments before they find one they like. Let them experiment, but donīt let it cost you a fortune along the way - there are alternatives.

Most libraries have extensive collections of cassettes and CDs, even some aimed directly at childrenīs tastes. There are compilations of Classical music aimed at arousing childrenīs senses which many children love to move too.
