Enviro Kids Tips

Get Them Excited!

It is easy to get preschoolers interested in the environment. The "Reduce, Re-use, Recycle" catch-cry is a great one for children to learn from a young age. Children can be inspiring in their passion for "saving our planet", so get them involved and excited today.
- Teach them "Reduce, Re-use, Recycle"

- Explain what each term means, with examples and "why"

- Continue to point out ways you are already putting these practices into place at home and at preschool.

- Stay interested yourself, for your childrenīs sake.

Keep It Simple

If you keep the recycling regime simple in your household, and explain it to your children from a young age, they will be able to cooperate early and share their knowledge with others.

File Box

If you buy your laundry detergent or copy paper in a box, these can make fantastic storage boxes. Children can decorate them too. Large businesses often have these boxes-with-lids for the taking.

Re-use Containers

Use most household containers to store glue and paints and craft materials.

Margarine containers with holes in the top as paint pots.

Plastic lids large and small make great wheels for creations (cars, fire engines etc.)

Cardoard boxes can be stacked to make dolls houses, trains and boats.

Fabric scraps are great for collage.

Old CD`s as coasters or make sun catchers with the kids.

Cut out one side of a cereal box to house pencils and crayons.

Just think before you throw out that household container what you can use it for!
