May 7, 2010, Newsletter Issue #203: ClickStart by Leapfrog

Tip of the Week

ClickStart is a great little first computer. It connects to your TV and the keyboard is wireless so your child doesn't have to be right in front of the television. There is a mouse attached to the keyboard and it can be adjusted for left or right-handed players. The game it comes with introduces letters, numbers, shapes, and more and there are two levels: one for beginners and one for more advanced players. The keyboard is nice because the letters are in the same place as a real keyboard, but the rows are colored, so for example, you can tell your child to look at the orange keys if she is having difficulty finding a letter. This computer seems more for the younger preschooler, ages 2-4, than for the recommended ages of 3-6. There are also additional games you can purchase with your child's favorite TV character such as: Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Bob the Builder, Thomas the Train, Backyardigans, Disney/Pixar Cars, Finding Nemo, and more.
